OUR CLUB

History

The Ormeau Bulldogs Junior AFC came about in 2008 when a group of kids (and parents) under the influence of the Gold Coast Juniors Auskick used to meet every Tuesday afternoon on the Canowindra oval near Ormeau State School for training and games.

Due to the growing numbers of enthusiastic parents and children, we were encouraged by the AFL Gold Cost Juniors to form a club.

The new community AFL club was officially formed at the Inaugural General Meeting at the end of November 2008 and a committee of parents was formed. The club was “Incorporated” on 23 Dec 08.

Our first sign on day for the newly formed Ormeau Bulldogs occurred on the 8th February 2009. We had over 70 children sign up on that day, which exceeded all of our expectations.

The club now has over 200 members and is growing steadily each year.

In 2016 the club The Ormeau Bulldogs AFC was formed and the Juniors, Seniors and Masters all amalgamated to become one club.

Our Mission Statement

The Ormeau Australian Football Club is a not for profit incorporated community based football club which is run by parents for the children, seniors and masters in conjunction with the AFLQ.

Our vision is for the children to learn new skills, how to work and help each other in a disciplined team structure, make new friends and have fun in a safe team oriented environment and create a place where the parents/carers can come, relax and enjoy watching their children play.

Through this we aim to promote healthy lifestyles for children, a positive atmosphere where the children can come, have fun and feel safe and build the character of the children through the benefits of good sportsmanship and participation rather than winning or losing.

Our Vision

Our vision of the club is based around the growth of the club through the children progressing until the club encompasses all age groups. In time we plan to have our own grounds clubhouses and open based teams generated from the youth within the Ormeau and surrounding areas.
